Kirkton Wind Farm (Wind2) once again sponsor the Melvich Novice Dog Trials.

Kirkton Wind Farm Ltd (Wind2) sponsored the annual Melvich Novice Dog trial, which took place on Kirkton Farm on Saturday 25th October 2025.

The day drew competitors and spectators from as far as Inverness, with 13 dogs taking part in a series of tasks that fully tested their herding skills. Despite experiencing four seasons in one day, spirits remained high throughout the competition.

The trials were judged by Michael Shearer from Lythmore, with Michael Findlay from Melvich taking the title with his dog Fred. Last year’s winner, Daniel Worthington, came a close second with his dog Roy, while Michael Findlay also secured a further accolade with his other dog Taff.

Reflecting on the second year of sponsorship, Fraser Mackenzie, Development Director at Wind2, said “Events like the Melvich Novice Dog Trials celebrate the incredible skills of the dogs and their handlers. The Melvich Dog Trials are an important event in the local calendar, and I’m proud that Kirkton Wind Farm Ltd (Wind2) continues to support it. Hopefully Kirkton Wind Farm Ltd will be able to support the Trials for many years to come.”
