Wind2 & Solar2 Supports Lucy Taylor in Her Fundraising for CoppaFeel!

Wind2 and Solar2 are proud to support Lucy Taylor in her fundraising trek to the Himalayas for CoppaFeel! Our team is committed not only to developing renewable energy projects but also to supporting charitable causes.

This November, Lucy Taylor, our Project Manager (Technical), will embark on a challenging five-day trek through the Himalayas to raise vital funds for CoppaFeel!. The charity raises awareness about the importance of early breast cancer detection through self-examination. It's a misconception that breast cancer only affects women. By educating people about how to check their bodies, they can help prevent and detect cancer early.

Lucy's Journey

Lucy joined the Wind2 and Solar2 team in August 2022 as Assistant Technical and Project Manager. She quickly became an integral member of our technical team, helping to ensure that our renewable energy projects maximise output.

As a University of Chester alumna, Lucy also leads our Work Placement Scheme, engaging with the university to recruit a summer placement. This year, she mentored Esther Channer during her five-week placement. To read more about Esther's experience, click here.

Fundraising Efforts

Lucy has been incredibly busy fundraising for her trek, participating in various activities such as cake sales, rowing, cycling, and walking a total of 250 kilometers. She's received overwhelming support from family, friends, and colleagues.

Lucy expressed her gratitude for the donations she's received, saying, "I'm so thankful to everyone who has contributed so far. As of today, Friday, October 18th, I'm just 10% away from my target. I'm determined to exceed my goal. CoppaFeel! does such amazing work, and I'm proud to be supporting them. With just over three weeks to go, I'm training hard. I'll be walking a total of 100km up to an altitude of 3000 meters. It won't be easy, but it will be incredibly rewarding."

Wind2 and Solar2 has supported Lucy with a donation of £350. Ian Curry, Technical Director, commented, "Wind2 as a business, and we as Lucy’s teammates, are extremely proud of Lucy and delighted to be supporting her on this epic adventure. We can’t wait to have her back with us and to hear about her experiences. Remember Lucy, this will be a tell all, none of this what happens in the Himalayas stays in the Himalayas commentary! “

The Trek

Lucy will be travelling to India on the 9th November, and following 36 hours of travel, she will begin the five day trek. With celebrities also participating, it promises to be a challenging, extraordinary, and life-changing experience. CoppaFeel! aims to raise over £450,000, and as of Friday, October 18th, 2024, that target has already been surpassed with £499,890 raised to date. However, there's still plenty of time to help Lucy smash her target.
